THE XRP LEDGER HACKATHON RAN THE WEEKEND BEFORE SWELL 2026

Leonard Wang, who wrote SUM Chain from an empty repository, was on the mentor list for the XRP Ledger Hackathon in New York on the twenty fourth and twenty fifth of October. He took questions on architecture, consensus design and token mechanics from the teams building across the weekend.

The hackathon ran four tracks. Protocol Innovation covered amendments, client implementations and core tooling. Agentic Finance asked teams to build rails for autonomous agents that transact at machine speed. Lending and Borrowing targeted the ledger's lending protocol and its single asset vaults. The fourth track, called Why Not, took anything that doesn't fit the other three.

XRPL Commons ran a separate three day core developer bootcamp in the same week, open to C++ developers only. Swell followed on the twenty seventh at 545 West 30th Street, the first year Ripple merged the conference with its developer summit.
